Create an invoice without time entries

Raise a fixed-fee or ad-hoc invoice from scratch, link it to client work, and let Renzo fill in the client's billing details.

You can invoice a client without logging any time - useful for fixed-fee projects, retainer top-ups, or one-off charges.

Create a blank invoice

  1. Go to Invoices and click New invoice (next to Generate from time).
  2. Choose the client. Their billing contact, email and address are pulled straight from the client's card - no retyping.
  3. Optionally link a piece of client work. The linked work appears as the first line on the invoice so it's clear what the bill relates to.
  4. Set the VAT % and payment terms, then click Create draft invoice.

Add your line items

You land on the draft invoice, where you can add, edit and remove line items - description, quantity and unit price. Totals and VAT recalculate automatically.

When you're happy, send the invoice as usual. It behaves exactly like an invoice generated from time: same statuses, same PDF, same payment tracking.

When to use which button

  • Generate from time - pulls every unbilled, billable time entry for a client in a date range and turns it into line items.
  • New invoice - starts blank; you write the lines yourself.
